There’s always a certain amount of excitement, and perhaps a little nervousness, when hosting an outdoor cinema event. This year, the weather forecast suggested we might be in for a very challenging day, with torrential rain predicted across the region.

Thankfully, as so often seems to happen, the unique Church Lench microclimate came to our rescue! The skies stayed dry throughout our afternoon family screening of How to Train Your Dragon, allowing families to relax, enjoy the film and make the most of a wonderful outdoor cinema experience.

As evening arrived for our screening of Good Morning, Vietnam, we did eventually see a little of the forecasted rain. A brief ten-minute shower passed through, but it certainly didn’t dampen spirits. Our audience took it all in good humour, proving once again that outdoor events are all about embracing whatever the British summer decides to bring!

A huge thank you must go to Charlie and his BBQ team, who did a sterling job throughout the day, keeping everyone well fed with delicious food. We’re also incredibly grateful to Laura and her café team, who kept visitors supplied with an irresistible selection of homemade cakes alongside the traditional cinema favourites of popcorn and sweets.

Most importantly, we would like to thank everyone who got tickets, packed their waterproofs just in case, and took a chance on the weather to join us. Your support means the world to us. Outdoor events can never come with guarantees, but the enthusiasm and loyalty of our audiences continue to make these special occasions possible.

We hope everyone enjoyed this year’s Outdoor Cinema and created some wonderful memories with friends and family under the Worcestershire sky. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Lenches Amphitheatre for more fantastic events in the future.

Thank you for supporting your local community amphitheatre.

See you again soon! 🎬🍿☀️🌦️
