On Sunday afternoon (12 July), we were delighted to welcome The Handlebards to the Lenches Amphitheatre for their performance of As You Like It, and what a fantastic afternoon it turned out to be.
We were thrilled to see the Amphitheatre almost full, with audiences making the most of a beautiful summer day. The weather was certainly warm, but a welcome breeze helped keep everyone comfortable as they settled in to enjoy the show.
On stage, The Handlebards brought their trademark energy, humour and creativity to Shakespeare’s beloved comedy. Their unique and entertaining interpretation of As You Like It had the audience laughing throughout the afternoon, and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying live theatre in the sunshine.
Our sprinkler proved to be one of the unexpected stars of the afternoon! Set up to help keep children cool in the heat, it quickly became popular with adults as well, with plenty of people taking the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing spray before the show and during the interval. It added to the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that makes outdoor theatre at the Lenches Amphitheatre so special.
Our Ice Cream kiosk was certainly busy, with visitors keen to cool down with a sweet treat and it was great to see so many audience members enjoying an ice cream while taking in the performance.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a wonderful atmosphere. We’d also like to thank The Handlebards for another brilliant performance that delighted audiences of all ages.
