We’re delighted to be welcoming the brilliant and unique HandleBards theatre company to The Lenches Amphitheatre right in the heart of Worcestershire, this season, as they bring their energetic production of As You Like It to our outdoor stage.
If you haven’t experienced the HandleBards before, they are no ordinary touring theatre company. These talented actors travel from venue to venue by bicycle, carrying everything they need—set, props and costumes—on the back of their bikes.
Their performances are known for being fast-paced, hilarious and wonderfully inventive, combining Shakespeare with physical comedy, music and audience interaction.

Touring by bike means each stop on their journey is part of a bigger adventure. Travelling miles between venues (often thousands over the course of a season), the troupe brings a sense of excitement and authenticity that audiences really connect with.
Here, at The Lenches Amphitheatre, we’re proud to play a small part in that journey—not just as a venue, but as a community. Our wonderful volunteers will be helping to support the cast during their visit, including providing overnight accommodation, ensuring they are well rested before they continue their pedal-powered tour across the UK.
